Exploris 240 Mass Spectrometer (Thermo Fisher Scientific)
Description
The Exploris 240 (Thermo Fisher Scientific) is a benchtop mass spectrometer featuring precursor ion selection using a high-performance quadrupole and detection via an Orbitrap Fourier transform analyzer. It provides high resolution, high mass accuracy, and high sensitivity.
From a technical perspective, two ion sources are available: an H-ESI II probe used for instrument calibration, and a nano-ESI source (Nanospray Flex) used in coupling with nano-HPLC.
Commissioned in February 2021.
Applications
- Identification of low-abundance proteins in complex mixtures
- Targeted quantification
- Expression analysis with or without labeling in complex samples
- Simultaneous identification and quantification in a single analysis
- High-resolution MS/MS applications such as de novo sequencing and intact protein analysis
Requirements / Constraints
This instrument is not open access
