Biological Sample Preparation for Proteomic Analyses
Description / Workflow
Handling of pre-analytical biochemical steps (protein separation and digestion, peptide enrichment and pre-fractionation, for example) for proteomics studies.
Applications
- Fractionation of complex protein mixtures by electrophoresis
- Enzymatic digestion of proteins (in-gel or in-solution)
- Protein enrichment (depletion of highly abundant proteins) or peptide enrichment (phosphopeptides)
Requirements / Constraints
Sample preparation requires a clean environment and equipment dedicated to proteomics analysis in order to minimize potential sources of contamination (keratins, polymers, etc.).
A sufficient amount of protein in the sample is required.
Each site is equipped with a biochemistry laboratory dedicated to this type of preparation (electrophoresis systems, laminar flow hoods, scanners, speed-vac, etc.).
Some equipment is available to collaborators wishing to prepare their own samples (subject to prior training by platform staff): please inquire.
